How It Works

Step 1:

Register with the PA Department of Health here and get your patient ID#.

  • State Registry Website Directions: Click the link and then select "Adult Patient Registration." Next, enter all of your information exactly as it appears on your Pennsylvania issued driver's license or identification card.

  • TIPS: Use a computer if you have access to one, registering will work on a cell phone, but it can be more difficult to enter the information correctly. Honor all abbreviations (town/street names, names, and suffix). CAPS LOCK ALL INFORMATION that you enter (including your email address). Do not hesitate to call us with any additional questions. Note: If you are having registration issues, please text us a picture of your PA license, state ID or change of address card. We are here to help you! However, in the event that we are unable to register you, the next step will be to contact the state directly: Call the help desk at 1 (888) 733-5595, or email RA-DHMedMarijuana@pa.gov

Step 2:

Book your appointment with Dr. Defranco. Be sure to set up your account and fill out all intake forms on booking site prior to your appointment. Please put your patient ID number from your state registration onto your intake forms so the doctor will have it at your appointment. Prices are $200 for initial consult and $125 dollars for renewals. After your appointment, you will receive an invoice via email, once payment is received, Dr. DeFranco will complete the certification process. This is an online appointment

You do not need to go to office address. The doctor does not have in person appointments.

Step 3:

The doctor will connect with you via video visit to discuss your medical condition and treatment options. Evaluations usually take less than 15 minutes. Ask any questions you may have regarding the use of medical marijuana. The doctor will certify you at the end of the conversation.

Step 4:

After certification, you will need to log in to the account used to complete registration and submit a $50 fee to the PA Department of Health by clicking the "make payment" link at the top of the DOH web page. The state will mail you medical marijuana card, it usually takes about 7 business days, but can take up to 3 weeks. Visit any dispensary in Pennsylvania with your card to purchase medical marijuana products. Consultation with a dispensary pharmacist is highly recommended. Dr. DeFranco does not fill out any paperwork pertaining to your employment. This certification is saying that you have a required diagnosis that can be helped with medical marijuana. That does not mean you should use medical marijuana during work hours , while driving or operating heavy machinery.
